The Brass Monkey is a modern European restaurant with emphasis on fish. We serve fresh seafood, tapas, sharing seafood platters, lunch specials, a great value early bird and dinner. Situated on the West Pier in Howth, a working harbour we get first choice of the freshest seafood in Ireland.
Love oysters? Our carefully selected Atlantic oysters from the cool waters of Sligo Bay on the North West coast of Ireland are delivered every morning and shucked to order. Be sure to try our award winning seafood chowder, creamy and fresh, we have the rave reviews to prove it’s the best on the pier! We proudly serve the award winning double smoked salmon from our West Pier neighbour Nicky’s Plaice.
We are a family friendly restaurant. Our children’s menu encourages our younger diners to try fish dishes and explore different tastes. You may ask for a specific dish in a child’s portion. There are many gluten free and gluten free adaptable dishes. All our desserts and scones are homemade daily.

“A fantastic restaurant beside the harbour. They made space for us (a family of 4) even though they were very busy (good sign!). We had the sharing hot platter and it was excellent. Good value for seafood this fresh in such a delightful setting. Calamari was particularly good and the hake, pan fried salmon and smoked salmon was all excellent too. A genuinely charming little restaurant with bags of atmosphere and super-attentive staff. We will definitely return next time we are in Dublin”.
